Richard K. Bogan, MD is the Medical Director and Principal Investigator for clinical research. He is board certified in sleep, internal and pulmonary medicine with more than 30 years of clinical practice and over 18 years of clinical research experience.
 
William C. McLain III, MD is the sub-investigator for clinical research. He is the Medical Director for SleepMed of West Columbia. He is board certified in sleep, internal and pulmonary medicine with more than 25 years of clinical practice and over 10 years of clinical research experience.
 
Research Support Staff: Two Nurse Practitioners that serve as sub-investigators. Research Manager is a Certified Clinical Research Coordinator (CCRC), Registered Nurse (RN) and Registered Polysomnographic Technologist (RPSGT). Two research coordinators. Sixteen sleep technicians, two of which are RPSGT’s, with research experience.
 
Research Experience: Phase II – IV pharmaceutical drug trials and device trials; > 100 total: 40 Insomnia including transient insomnia (normal sleepers), 20 Restless Legs Syndrome (RLS), 16 Narcolepsy (adult and pediatric), 15 Sleep Apnea (adult and pediatric), 4 Shift Work Sleep Disorders (SWSD), 2 Non-Restorative Sleep (NRS), 1 Delayed Sleep Phase Syndrome (DSPS), 4 not related to sleep.
 
Training: Collaborative Institutional Training Institute (CITI), National Institute of Health (NIH), Good Clinical Practice (GCP), Hazardous Material (Haz Mat), Electronic Data Capture (EDC).
 
Central Institutional Review Board (IRB)
 
Facility: Nine private sleep rooms with adjoining bathrooms. Accredited by the American Academy of Sleep Medicine (AASM) since 1987.
 
Equipment: Alice 5 data acquisition systems used for polysomnographic recordings and software and scorers previously certified by central scoring services such as SleepMed, inc., Clinilabs, Inc., Henry Ford Hospital and Mayo Clinic; ECG machine; -20 degree freezer, locked drug refrigerator, locked drug cabinets, centrifuge, and breathalyzer.
